I was smelting down some ingots last night and came across a few of these monsters. I thought at first that they weren't wheel weights but they had the clip, melted at the right temp etc. I can't imagine how big the wheel has to be to need something that heavy to balance it. I wish I knew where i got them ..it sure would cut down on the clip skimming if they were all that big. :)

Have a good one,
Dave

Semi-trailer trucks and some heavier mine trucks. I've got a few myself.

Largest one I ever got was 16 oz. Wish I could get a whole bucket full of these. Unfortunately, most truck tire places are going to big stick on weights.

LOL . . .I was just amazed when I grabbed it out of the bucket. I never understood the jokes people were making about prying them off at the truckstop . . . .NOW I get the jokes. :) A whole bucket would be about 200 of these things.

Isn't big WW's what all bullet casters dream of? And finding 40 pounds of pure tin at the bottom of the 55 gal drum filled with the biggies?

I bought a quantity of boxed NEW WW's from a defunct tire store. A considerable number of them were large ones for trucks. Seems a shame to use new ww's to melt down for bullets, but that hasn't stopped me:mrgreen:.

Nope, I dream of last Friday evening, when my friend brought me 400 pounds of FREE Linotype. He'll probably be bringing more, next time he stops by that print shop.

Nope . The shame is thay the lead was used for ww and not made into boolits to start with.

In the bucket that I was smelting today I pulled out what I thought was a part to a car/truck that got thrown in with the weights. Wrong! It was a huge wheel weight. Couldn't read the numbers since it was battered but I'd say it was around 10oz or so by comparison with the other larger ones I had on hand.
