View Full Version : My New Lee C358-158-SWC Mold

Here are pictures of my new Lee mold and its CB's. I dehorned the sprue plate, which I think you can see in the photos. I also installed a set screw, so now clearance between the sprue plate and the mold blocks can be controlled. I cast right at 100 bullets, and there are no drag marks on the mold or the sprue plate.
I cast using WW's + 2% tin at 765*F. CB's drop from the mold with the lightest of taps on the mold handles. I did not smoke the mold, and considering how easy it was to extract the CB's, I doubt I will.
I could not ask for a better as cast weight, or diameter. The CB picked up 3grs of weight after installing the GC, and I figure another 2grs to 4grs will be added with the lube. I hope this CB shoots as well as it looks.

Lee makes a dang nice product for the money in most cases. :drinks:

That is a really great bullet.

Shoots very accurately in my Smith and in my TC.

That's my favorite bullet in my 20" Rossi M92 clone.

That looks a lot like my Lyman 358156. I made a mess of bullets with it yesterday.. still need to add the gas checks and then lube 'em up...

Well,

I like:

6.5 gr Unique about 1000 fps
7.8 gr herco about 1200 fps
11.6 gr A. No 9 about 1300 fps*
13.5 gr 2400 about 1200*

* = most accurate.

All around 1" @ 25 yards from scoped Contender.
All around 2.5" In Smith with Factory sights.
No leading in either Contender or Smith.

Smith = 6.5 inch bbl.
