What is best site to discuss methods and ways of smelting WW an unkwown scrap lead. I have a consdierable amount of unknown lead or lead alloy to be smelted. My method is to get to temp, turn off burner add cup of crisco, stifr the be-jesus out of it, add Gerbil litter, let it soak up the oil and impures and skim and pour into ingots. For what I have done, this beats sawdust hands down, but not sureI do the sawdust correctly.. I never have to flux on remelt in my lead pot, but doesn anyone have better method.
