Hello everyone I found this site a couple days ago and can't believe all the information. My question is I would like some suggestions on a mold for my 500 S&W. I am shooting 440 cast from Leadhead, they shoot good but would like to cast. Looking for a 400 to 500 grain. Thanks Bill Fox

You can get a cheap mold from Lee thats 440gr. I went to Accurate molds and had 2 molds made, 1 is 450 and the other is 620. Tom's brass 2 cavity molds are a work of art and were delivered in less than 10 days from the online order. Cost was $125 each and drop beautiful bullets right from the box.. If your going to cast your going to need a sizer also so plan on some $$ for that also if you don't have one. Check out the group buy section here. There are some 500 molds in a group buy that are about to be made and a couple extras from an old group buy still for sale. I got a 325gr SWC single brass mold I might be getting rid of as I have found that I prefer 450gr+ bullets. Can send you some to try if your interested

I have a LBT 2-cav mold for the .512 450gr LFN (Long Flat Nose) used for the 500 Linebaugh that I'm selling for one of our range members. They use standard RCBS handles. It's like new. You should be able to view it on the LBT website. This may be oversize for the S&W, so disregard if it is. Price $75 shipped USPS.

I've put thousand of the Lee 440's out of my 500's. For my uses which are plinking at the sillywett range and rolling hogs they work well.

I like the Lee modern minnie. It drops a single hollow base wad cutter that weighs 365 grains. I reverse it and load it over 6.4 grains of Unique which is nowhere near max. Some of the guys here use the REAL Lee bullets. I don't size my minies and lube them with mule snot (Lee Liquid Alox or LLA). Find the REAL and minie in the muzzle loading section.
