A couple of months ago Jeff Bartlett was selling a pulldown powder called 8208. I did some searching on this powder and found that many in the 6PPC crowd liked certine lots of it.... some bench resters buying several hundred pounds of the stuff.... Jeff only had it for sale for a couple weeks as it sold out very quickly.
Jeff had said that it has a burning rate simular to IMR 3031 ,but to use H322 loading data.... Well I went ahead an bot an 8 pounder of it ... just for a rainy day....Hoping a 45-70 might come my way someday in the future..... Well no 45-70 yet.
Well I dont have a 6PPC either ..... several 30-06's a .308 as well as a 30-30 are in stock ready to go.
My jug is marked Military Surplus Gunpowder 8208 Pulldown Lot # 18143
Anyone ever use this in something other than a 5.56 it origionally came in or a 6PPC ?

sir,
since you bought it on a whim, and have no real use for this state of the art benchrest propellant, please feel free to ship it to me where it can be put to its proper use.

(honestly it was sold out very quickly....welll cause after i bought mine, i told a couple of "known" br shooters...and presto it was all gone.....they bought all jeff had left. i use it in a 6ppc, and will also try some in my br 223. yes it will work in other rounds...but its a waste of your money. you could have bought 16 lbs of other surplus powders for what the 8 of 8208 cost.... unless you are shooting competition, you would be money ahead to sell it and buy conventional(cheap) surplus powders)

Lot numbers on both cans is AO68(TW-18188-Y); Price is $100 per 8# can. I also have more than I need in 1680, 2200, and 4227; Same price but the 4227 comes in 5# cans so it's $60 per.

I used to use it in my 7mm TCU in Handgun Sihlouette. It seemed just a bit faster than H322

Thanks rockrat.....It's abit quick but should be worth a try for CB's .
Mike in Co,
Well I'm not sure how state of the art a decades old military powder is but at least in your BR arena, it seems to work well.As for me I have it in stock now and who knows what the future holds.I did buy it for a rainy day and no doubt there will be a few in the future... Better to have it and may not need it than need it and cant get it... Rainy days do take different forms.
Thank you gentlemen.
