Shooting the flame off a candle, leaving enough wick so it can be lit again. Usually starts at about 15yards off hand. If you miss your out, every one who snuffs the flame moves back 5 yards and goes again. Proses of elimination until there is one winner. If you hit the candle you are out. Biggest problem is finding your sights.

I will have to push for a candle match at the local gun club and see if I can get it to catch on. It would be one of those things that even the inline folks with scopes could participate in, and the traditional folks would have as good a chance to win it as the inline shooters would. I was looking for a ML match that everyone could participate in. The candle match seems to be the ideal one.

Yep that is the candle match. Close range matches the guns with the sights close to the bore line have an advantage. The guys with scopes have to remember to hold above the flame the higth of the scope. Most will shoot high till they learn the sightpicture changes with the amount of light.
