I'm new to casting and I am looking for a mold for 9mm and 38 super that isn't going to cause excess frustration. The two I am looking at are from mp-molds, the 359-147-BB and 359-140-FB.

Does the bevel base make it harder to cast or load? Also, will I be able to use the load data for the Lyman 356637 with the 359-147-BB. What about load data for the SAECO #383 with the 359-140-FB? I do not have a luber, so I will be tumble lubing if that makes a difference.

I've seen plenty of similar post by more experienced casters, but I am just cutting my teeth. Thanks in advance.

Never liked the heavier boolits in the nine. Tried several times and never liked them. All were bevel base 147 gr ofr so. Currently using the 125 gr LEE RN.

I've got the 359-140-FB you mentioned. I've only cast about 200 so far, loaded 150 so far, and shot 50 with different amounts of Unique powder. After those 50, my barrel looked good so that's when I loaded up the other 100.

Without looking them up, I'm not familiar with the Lyman and Saeco boolits, but I was told I can use load data for 147gr boolits for this 140 grain, 359-140-FB. So far so good.

This was my first 9mm boolit and I haven't tried any lighter ones to know what I like best, but that's what I know so far! Good luck! -Brad

Before buying any mold make sure you slugged your barrel. Just bought Lee 6 cavity mold and sizer in .356.

Found out once I started shooting them I need a .358. Now I am going to have to learn to lap my mold and hope I don't ruin it.

I don't have any guns that will run .356 bullets. They all lead. I have no idea why they even make .356 molds.

my brand new last friday 356-120tc drops at .360 so you will likely be fine there

cast and see what they drop at , then beagle it if needed , lapping should be unnessacary

read up on expanding a sizer and you can just open up your .356 to .358
