Man one of you guys got me all hot and bothered about this and now I can find one. Any one stocking these at a fair retail price?

I have been looking since last December, just about every day. There are none to be had that are NIB. I did run across one that was used but I am firm on a NIB. The used one was going for $550 and it is gone now.

The problem is, as far as I can tell, Rossi still shows them in their 2012 catalog, however, from what I can tell, none have been produced since 2009.

As far as I know they are no longer in production. About a year ago I wanked into a local gun shop and bought a new in the box for $550. Two days later I was in another gun shop and they had one WITH A CONSECUTIVE SERIAL NUMBER to mine for $800!!!

rbertalotto, have you been shooting yours very much?

It's not easy finding any input about those guns. I was wondering if you've been able to determine the effective maximum range for Deer and similar size game, and what bullet works best at that range?

What, if any range, do you have the gun zeroed in at?

I could be wrong as I don't own one, but I have had corres. with folks that have to limit nose length of bullets used in the .454 Rossi, some of the LFN designs are to long in the snout to fit/feed in that gun.

I shoot the same load that I shoot in my Freedom Arms 454 revolver. 300g hard cast, gas check over a VERY stout load of H110.

This rifle kicks like a REALLY mad mule!

But it is relatively flat out to about 150 yards which is about as far as I'm going to shoot a living animal with iron sights and 60yo eyes.

This rifle is extremely accurate with both 454 and 45LC........and the action, right out of the box was extremely smooth.

I now have a bunch of these Rossi lever actions and they are all fantastic rifles for the $$.

Go to Bud's Gun Shop or Hinterland Outfitters, if they show them to be out of stock, you can click a box that says" notify me when they are back in stock". That's how I got my Rossi 454 a year ago. Watch your email closely, they go quickly. I paid $412 (if I remember correctly), shipped, NIB. When you get it, put a good Western movie on the TV, oil the lever and bolt, watch the movie, sit and cycle the action for 20 minutes, it smooths them out a lot.

Pretty sure its another case of the Middle man deciding what we want instead of letting us decide what we want.

I do believe the .454 has been dropped. In the 2012 Rossi Catalog, they've replaced the Std. B92 lever guns with the "EL Jeffe" R92 lever guns. Calibers appear to the .38/.357, .45 colt and .44 magnum only. Maybe they will re-introduce the .454 at some point.

I have one in 16" and I love it. It is very accurate and simply put it overlaps into 45-70 power terrirtory in a smaller package.
