i purchased my first 6 cavity molds this week

i had 2 cavity and single cavity molds before
i am only a year into casting so i can't kick myself to hard for not getting a 6x sooner but there are definitely more 6 cavity molds in my future

happiness is , opening the handle and having all 6 drop at the same time

i am also wondering if lee was listening , i had heard many say that the 356-12tc cast small , not mine they average .360 maybe t is just my alloy but even the first few wrinkled boolits were .359 or larger

the 401-170 is dropping at .405 i smoked my mold preheated , and lubed the pins and sprue plate and screw with 2 cycle on a q-tip worked well

i think a hot plate is in order so i can skip the first several rejects all together

no stick to hit the mold just slick as can be pop the handle off with the sprue , open the mold and let them fall next thing you know you have a pile of boolits and the pots running low

The 6 cavity molds are definitely in a different category than the 2 cavities.

.............Yup, once you get them setup and right, the boolits seem to reproduce all on their own :-) To preheat the moulds I set them on top of the furnace when I turn it on. When switching to another, after refilling the pot, it too goes on top to pre-heat while the pot is coming back up to temp. Some say it's a no-no, but I have, many times, laid the flat bottom of a 1,2, or 4 cav or the bottom corner of a Lee 6c in, or on the hot alloy. The first pour is generally frosty, and by continually casting within a couple pours everything is back to perfection.

Bottom rigt photo is a round steel fruitcake tin the slugs get poured into from the 'Drop Box'. They cool there before going into the plastic containers in the upper loeft pic. Sometimes I'm needing to dump the drop box again before the previous production has cooled enough, and have to hunt up another cooling bin

A good Lee six cavity mold is a real producer! I think you'll like that 9mm/38 boolit, too.
It has been good to me. This is a typical result from a SIG which is NOT a target pistol by
any measure. Thee Beretta 92 doesn't group as well most of the time, but the Browning
HP likes it very much. All work reliably and shoot about as well as the guns shoot with
anything. Ignore the powder - unavailable in the US most of the time, very odd French
powder that works well ONLY in 9mm, how weird is that? I got 8 lbs on a really good
trade and it needs to be used up.

Went out yesterday with my 6 cavity and before I knew I had over 1,500. Sure doesn't take long. Sure wish I had the primers for those boolits.

I don't know if you are into smelting and making ingots, but it gets addictive too! Especially knowing you are going to turn them into boolits with your new 6 cavity. :-)
