It may be in part due to the velocity , or that the projectile looks like a connecting rod from a steam engine , but it sure looks like it's key-holing to me .

Its probably a lot like a 50 cal rifle. The bullet doesn't even stabilize until at least 100 yards, yet it can hit a human target at a mile away.

This thing may be more accurate than it looks, id like to see what it looks like traveling when its 5-10 miles out.

Stage 3 aluminum rods for a B series cummins !!!

With the front heavier than the rear & the rear catching more air resistance & it goes 100 miles I`d say stabilization starts at 25 miles ????

Who`s gonna be relaying windage & elavation ???

1. The test is for interior ballistic measurements and the round is designed to rapidly lose velocity. The service rounds will be fin stabilized and guided.

2. We see it yawing after it had penetrated a target.

That was cool watching the air bend around the projectile

Rail guns have a major draw back, air resistance, where these things would really shine is in the vacuum of space were the range would only be limited by aiming capability. There are scientists that would like to have a couple of rail guns on the moon to slow down any incoming Asteroids or comets that are on our course. Despite the dooms sayers if you could slow a comet just a fraction of a mile a hour it would miss earth if you started early enough.
