This has probably been asked before but what lube would you guys recommend for 300 grn Pb in .45 LC @ 1100 - 1300 fps in 25 to 50 degree weather? Is there a lube that is just a good all around lube in any weather? Thanks, mike

If you are talking about hunting, only a few shots at most at close range, then whatever you have would be sufficient. ... felix

So what you are telling me is lube doesn't make much difference unless you are going to shoot several rounds in a session? mike

Bullshop has something which he calls "Green" something lube. I don't recall exactly. He makes some good lube products, and he lives in Alaska, and swears it's the best cold temp lube that he's seen. He also casts commercially.

leftiye set ya straight. We shoot here down to -30 as a routine. Have shot colder just to test but its begining to be not as much fun if its more than about -30.
If you are gona be pushing a 300gn from a 45 colt to 1300 fps you will be gettin up there in pressure. Plain base boolits can handle 1300 fps no problem long as the pressure isnt too high. I shoot PB lots faster than that but at lower pressure. A 300gn45 colt at 1300 is about maxing out a ruger.
Most folks wont push that hard without a gas check.
Anyways like the man said Speed Green made in the cold for the cold. Not just for cold though as it works even better in hot weather. But like the name says Speed it was made to handle high pressure, even higher than you would want to push that 300/45 pb to.

Yes you can. Once the ingrediants for bull plate have been mixed they do not sepperate. It can stay melted and without any adgitation will not sepperate. I have not pan lubed with it but it is fairly soft not requiring a heater for a lube sizer so boolits should push out easily.

Bullshop ,how does your Speed Green work in HOT weather? So. Cal has too much 105* weather that makes Javilina(sp) sticky. Looking for something I can lube boolits with in March and load in Sept without getting too messy. Duckiller

I dont often get to shoot at 105 temp but I would think that anything that will actualy work as a lube will get a little sticky at that temp. If it didnt I wouldnt hold much hope for it helping much.
I did get to shoot the quiggley at forsyth mt. one time. It was 106 on the line. I was using my #2 lube which was the forrunner of nasa lube. It is much softer than speed green but I had no problems at all. The spg guys were having serious melt down problems. I gained a number of lube customers at that match. As far as how it works in your barrel I have found nothing better for any pressure level in any weather, but think it does better than anything I have tried with high pressure/velocity loads.
