What would be the best size to shoot in a S&W 632 pro ?

.312 or .313 or .314

Thank You! Mac

Depends on bore size.

And chamber throats sizes.

I think what the previous posters are trying to tell you is that there is enough variation between individual guns that the only way to answer that question is to slug your bore and slug each individual chamber throat so as to get some working numbers. Even then, the final say will be made on the target board and signs of leading.

So, slug your barrel and throats and then start out with a boolit at or .001" over the bore size, my choice being .001" over.

Thanks the replies!

The only bullets I cast are 45 Colt and 45 acp. I don't have the ability to slug the 32 barrel right now. I am going to buy from a commercial caster.

If you had to guess what size would be good to start with what would it be?

.312 .313 or .314

Thanks

I found that S&W .32s (both .32 H&R and S&WL) like .314 sized cast bullets. My Ruger Single Six and TC Contender prefer .312.

.314 works in my 32s.

My S&W 31-1 does really well with my cast sized to .313 as does my Charter Arms, Colts, and Taurus. All the bores slugged tight .311 to moderate .312, the .313 worked well. I have 16 revolvers that shoot various 32 caliber cartridges and .313 works well in all of them.

I'de vote for .313, YMMV.Find some soft lead and beat, fram, slam, roll between two steel plates etc. to make a slug. Even less labor intensive would be to drill a 5/16" hole about 3/8" deep in a block of wood and pour your slug in that.

I use .311s in my Buckeye Ruger .32-20/.32 Mag with good results. When I had a Single Six .32 Mag, it liked .311s in both the Mag cases and .32 Longs.

I know what the book says but slug the barrel and chambers and see what you have./beagle

Thank you to everyone that replied!

I ordered 500 .32 95gn sized to .313 for my S&W 632

I'm a Cowboy shooter and I'm planning on using Trail Boss. I know it's not the best powder. At least I know I won't blow up the gun! Mac

I run a lot of .313s, but prefer .314" bullets for my Blackhawk and GP100, for everything from .32 S&W to .327 Federal.

.314 not only works in all of my 32s, it works in my Ruger 30 carbine, too.

My pre model 30 S&W long like .313. My Ruger 32 H&R slugs at .3125.

I run my .32 bullets at .314. That is for a Smith Model 30, 31 and a SP101 4in. Ruger .32 Mag. They all shot amazing.
