OK. I just bought a Harpers Ferry Flint Pistol in .58 caliber that was on sale at Dixie Gun Works. Several Years back I bought a Pedersoli Harpers Ferry Flint Rifle in .54 caliber.[smilie=w:

The Harpers Ferry Rifle shoots great as long as I wipe the flint when I shoot it. What I want to know is what kind of beast is this .58 Caliber Pistol. If anyone has one, do they shoot well? Are the accurate out to 50 feet? I believe this is also a Pedersoli, so I know that they have a reputation for quality work.:castmine:

I don't know anything about the Harper's Ferry, but I do know about a Ky 50 cal pistol. 50 gr of 3FG on a 495 PRB is a hand full. 20 gr was much more pleasant to shoot and was quite accurate out to 75 feet. 30 grs of 3FG seems to be the ideal charge in my 50 cal. It is a good balance between short range power and shootability. If you want to have some real fun load 70 grs in it with a PRB and let 'er rip.

Best wishes,

Joe
