Hi guys....things have been rough at work and I haven't done much reloading in the past couple of years but have been able to start back in over the last couple of months. I'm doing mostly .38, .45, 40S&W and I'm down to the last jug of Russian Unique that I got from Hi-Tech back in the day. I see that there doesn't seem to be any more around, and after checking the usual sources of surplus (Jeff's, Pat's, Hi-Tec, etc) prices seem to be high enough that I guess I should just place a large order from Powder Valley for regular Unique. Does PV have shipping or Hazmat specials and if so how often......also I don't see a way on their web site to sign up for email specials? So wanted to get a reality check before I pulled the trigger.....am I just in a trough of a wave of surplus?

I think Grafs has a special, where they pay Hazmat on 32lbs or more

+1 on the R700X, also have been using between 3 and 5 grains (depending on cal.) of 10B101, and am very pleased with it.

Given that Promo is 15 to 20 dollars per 8 lb. jug cheaper than even relatively cheap Unique, maybe you'd want to look into that. Approximates Red Dot, and it will work well in most calibers for standard pistol loads.

Where do ya get Promo? Esp. if it is cheaper than 8 # of Unique. BC

Promo loads weight for weight with Red Dot data, not volume for volume. I'm using it & all is well.

I've used Promo for .45ACP, 9mm, .357SIG, .38special, .357mag, and .45-70. Maybe not the best for all of those calibers, but it goes "bang"... :)
