I have yet to try the Lyman 429640 in my 336-44 however with the Ranch Dog 432-265GC I use 23 grains of H110 and with the Ranch Dog 432-300GC I use 21 grains of H110 .

So for the 429640 or 434640 I would start with 21 grains of H110 and maybe go to 22 or 22.5 grains .

I have loaded up to 300 gr. boolits over 21 grs. of H110 and primers were just starting to flatten a bit. Accuracy much past 50 yards was poor though. I settled on 270 gr. max due to 1:38" twist.

The Hodgdon site shows 20.8 grs. H110 under a 330 gr. lead boolit so 21 under the 434640 should be a good starting load. Oddly they do not show any lead boolit loads for weights between 240 and 330 gr.

I normally load my 434640 over IMR4227 since that is what I have. 22 grs. is what I used last time out and it performed well.

+1 on the 22 grains of 4227. I shoot the identical load in my 1894ss with a 280 grn Lee Group Buy boolit and the same charge. More accurate than I can hold. I have the BRP version of the 434640 and will be trying it this spring with that same charge.

Hope this helps,

Wow , when I work up loads I never load more then 6 of a charge at a time !

Although I may have 4 or 5 different charge weights , I typically never carry more then 30 or so rounds to the range for a specific rifle at once .

And true thats what works for me , so that way of doing it may not work for you .
