10 lbs of lead is 160 ounces of lead. 2% of 160 is 3.2. So add 3.2 ounces of Tin to the Lead for a 2% Tin:Lead alloy.

Hope this helps.

Lyman #2 Is 9 Lb Ww 1 Lb 50/50 Soder. So Would 10 Lb Ww And 4 Oz Tin Be A Little Softer?

Gee 686, most folks think that Sn adds hardness, Primarily Sn adds better flow characteristics and changes the melt temp and gives a vary slight hardness improvement.

I keep a little inexpensive pocket calculator on my casting bench to allow me to easily "do the math". I then "melt off" the required amount of tin (I use a postal scale to accurately weigh the tin bar so that I melt off just the right amount).

The lyman #2 alloy you describe is about 5% tin (1 to 20) 95% lead. That's moderately hard for soft alloy (or quite soft for hard alloy). I like it with about 4% antimony also. That's quite hard, but still expands. Elmer (blessed is his name!) liked the 5% tin alloy, used it for his magnum loads.
