Very nice, indeed. Makes me want to move to WA. I think we are do for a change. But that will only be accomplished if we can sell here in eastern TN. BC

What, no McDonalds? What's a fella supposed to do up there? No mall, almost no people, no street lights?

How cool is that?

I hope you never come to a point in your life where you begin to take such beauty for granted.

I personally would have to drive several hundred miles to reach an area that even comes close to the peace and serenity that comes across in your photos.

I have to walk 16 kilometers, uphill, with 11kls packbag, plus rifle and ammo just to be with nature, but even then, it doesn't come close to what you have!

Can you imagine if there will be McDonald's in the forest?

What does it look like in the winter? I am old and dealing with deep snow doesn't thrill me. I need two places. Somewhere it doesn't get too hot in the summer and another place that doesn't get too cold in the winter. Also need good hunting and fishing winter and summer with no stupid gun laws.

Hi Duckiller,,,
300 days of sunshine ......cold in the winter....HOT in the summer....LOTS of lakes for fishing
cold is 22deg with snow,,,,snow varies yearly and by elevation....in the valley about 2500 ft elevation its not bad a foot or two....up at 4000 ft it gets up to 4 feet.
HOT is 100 deg plus
the picture is of the road into my place taken at the end of April elev 4000ft....it was a winter of very heavy snow which is unusual...it was the first time that the road was closed this late in April

Great country! But if you hadn't said that it was in Eastern Washington I'd have been inclined to think it was in Southern Oregon, fairly near where my wife and I live. I'm guessing that your land may be somewhere within a 50 to 75 mile radius of Colville, WA, a small North-Eastern Washington town where my wife grew up. Might even be a bit more East, closer to the panhandle area of Idaho. But regardless, it's all great country and about the last real untouched and truly pristine land left in the USA. Enjoy!

So your 'Garden of Eden' is actually in North Central Washington rather than Eastern Washington. Man, that's some beautiful country up there! I lived in Seattle for close to 20 years and we drove all over the state at one time or another so we probably came somewhere near your spread on one of our trips. Enjoy yourself!!

I camped for two weeks in the Okanagan about 30 years ago. Really enjoyed it, and met many good people. It was the site of the first organizing rendezvous for the Pacific Primitive Rendezvous, that is still in existence today. Won the primitive camp award, too!

anything east of the mountains, over snoqualmie pass is generally considered "eastern" WA,
both politically and geographically

Yeah, you're right about that. I thought about that after I posted my reply but just didn't get around to editing my statement. However, while politically everything east of the mountains is most certainly considered "eastern" WA, in a true geographical sense the Okanogan has to be considered more "north central" than "eastern". For the benefit of those who aren't aware of the divide between "east" and "west" in both Washington and Oregon, "eastern" WA and OR are predominately Conservative while the "western" parts of these two states, where the larger cities such as Seattle and Portland and the major North-South highways such as I-5 are located, are predominately Liberal in regard to politics. But what the hell, it's still some of the most beautiful country around and I'm happy that you were able to secure a piece for yourself and your family.

"No stupid gun laws" - oops. Looks like you have to move out of Cali. Born in
CA, would not even consider living there now, sad to say.

Like this? About 60 miles round trip to get anything. No electricity, low enough that the snow isn't too bad and the winters are mild, high enough (about 7500ft) that the summers are cool. You can hunt elk and bear from the front porch. Fishing is a little farther away.

I'd love to say that this place was mine but it isn't. I was looking at 80 acres just over the ridge in the upper right hand corner but just didn't make enough money to justify it, a house & small farm and my business property that wasn't paid for. I could have rented out the cabin during hunting season to the outfitter I was working for at the time for just about enough to cover the loan, but I still had to build the cabin myself.

My wife left an area like that in BC to marry me. I still don't know what she was thinking. ;)
