My E-mail has been hacked!!

I would like to let everyone know...... My e-mail has been hacked. I have gotten a friendly heads up from people on this forum getting chain advertisements for enlargements......... you know. THIS IS NOT FROM ME. If anyone gets such a message in their e-mail, Please disreguard. I do not know how this happened and apologize for any embarrasment or inconvenience this has caused.

My hotmail account was hacked about 3 weeks ago too.

You need to check your computer for viruses/worms/trojans. It may not have been your actual email account that was hacked, but a contact list on your computer. Or, you clicked on an email and it forwarded your contact list from your email account. Change the password to be sure, and ask your email provider for help. Especially a listing of account access dates and time. One of the guys I work with continues to have this problem.

Our 4WD club all got an email labeled "important" with a link in it,
turned out to be a spam attack site. That was Jan 17.
He never sent the email, said his Yahoo account got hacked.

A trojan gets in and starts using your computer as a spam 'robot' using a 'back door'. I found out about mine when it sent me a spam from 'me'! But things got worse further down the line when they hacked my computor or something, damaging it then phoning me claiming to be Microsoft appointed something or the other and offered to 'fix the problems i have been experiencing by allowing them to log into my computer .... heck, why don't they just ask me straight out for my bank account details including my password! I lost my entire hardrive Windows partition. But not my money. ********! (Not that I had much).

Isn't Microsoft just Lovely!
No one screws with Ubuntu (Linux) because people that make it up do not leave wide open windows and doors for the hackers to enter.
I guess that is why it is called Windows.
They could fix it if they wished but they believe figuring out more ways to rip people off is much more important.

No, nobody screws with Ubuntu because no one uses it. When I say no one I'm talking total market share. Hackers (or crackers) do it for one reason. Financial gain. There is no sense in going after a niche market when stealing for financial gain is the motive.

It's the same reason everyone touts apple products as being superior security wise. If either of the aforementioned OS were #1 the crooks would be going at them hard and heavy just like they do windows.

Linix drives the Andriod phone platform ,at least in the Motorola phones.I'm not sure that really a nitch anymore .
