Don't ask me why, I went ahead and got one just to see what it would do. Any tips on loading this mushroom of a bullet?

452-160-RF mold, to be specific.

in what?
in the acp it takes more than 6 grs of unique to function the slide in both of mine it took closer to 7 grs.
in the 45 colt i use 5 grs of clays it's light recoiling but accurate enough to snipe grouse.

Sorry, 45acp in my CZ.

Should these be water dropped due to the higher velocity?

I'm using Universal, and the Hodgdon site has a 155gr LSW at 6.5-7gr, so I'll just try the min for starters.

i don't waterdrop mine, just ww's and maybe some range scrap or other soft whatever lead mixed in 3-1 and maybe .5-1% more tin if needed.
sized to 452.
they are going about 925-950 fps from both guns [the colt in a rifle]
i don't shoot a lot of them in the rifle, but they are good enough for plinking and grouse shooting to 50 yds.
and they are plenty easy on the hands in the acp.
i will load some up at the lower end [6 grs unique] and mix in with my 200 and 230 gr boolits so i,the wife and the kids can practice the rack-tap drill, when they don't quite eject or throw the slide back far enough to pick up the next round.

runfiverun: what is the purpose of mixing them in with 200 & 230gr boolits? As these boolits are fairly short, do they feed ok in a 1911?
