Was thinking of getting a single shot in 223 but not wanting to spend a fortune on one, just something to plink with cast boolits, Thanks for all your input in advance.

For cast boolits, think .222 Rem.

Longer neck.

Steve Durren, a good friend of mine and a full fledged REAL gunsmith, did a fine series in The Single Shot Rifle Journal on preparing a NEF for serious single shot target use. Fascinating articles and they are available in back issues or copies of same from:

If it were me, I would look for a used Martini cadet and have it rechambered to anyone of a bunch of rimmed carts. ie: 22 Hornet, Bee, Donaldson Wasp, 222R, etc....come on be daring.

Yeh! But that ain't going to be cheap. At least not in the price range of the NEF. They are sure fun little guns though.

I have an NEF 223 rifle and it shoots very well. In fact it shoots right along with my Model 70 Winchester nice sub minute of angle groups. For $237 its a great buy.

One of them russkie single shots would do good I'm thinking. Along with one of those 70 grain molds they've got going on in the group buy section.

Dave

I have a New In Box HandiRifle in .223 Rem in a synthetic stock. $225 shipped if that helps.
