How do you think a Lee TL452-230-2R bullet would preform? Made from tire weights. This is what I have on hand till I get a different mold.

Thanks
Joe

I use the 250gr SWC Lee and it shoots well in a Redhawk. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't shoot that boo lit well as far as paper, small varmints and tin cans go. Personal defense should be just fine. Id not choose it for larger game though.

Mine shoots 200 gr SWC as well as either of the 255s , i did shoot some factory cast 230s the shot ok as I recall but were small for the throat so I never shot enough of them to know for sure.

I load that same boolit cast of 50/50 stick on/clip ons and push it to 1100 in my blackhawk using a little of everything. Blue dot, red dot, unique, and I think I even used bullseye for a little while. I liked the red dot load the best. Very mild, very flat shooting, very accurate. I had to use two layers of alox to lube them down the 7.5 inch barrel. Try it, you'll like it.

Joe: That's actually my choice of round nose boolits for a 45 from Lee. After you cast the boolits, see if they'll easily go thru the throats of your gun (I'm assuming it's a single action revolver). If they can go thru the thoats as cast (without sizing them), I would give them a coating of tumble lube (not too much, with TL less is better), then load them, and shoot them. If your gun is a pre-war one (or a poorly made clone) then the boolits might not be big enough, but if the guns a post war one, or a Ruger, chances are the throats will be about the right size. Of course the best way to know would be to slug the throats, but if the boolit is even close, shoot them, and see what you get.

In a fixed-sight SAA-style pistol it will probably shoot 3-4" low, I'd start with a powder at least as slow as Unique, HS6 would be better. If they fit the gun, they're quite accurate and fun to shoot I crimp them in the top groove.

I forgot to mention the gun is a Ruger 45 dual

Another question is with this boolit the oal is close to 1.60 or a little longer? It would chamber well in the Ruger Blackhawk
