How many of you guys think this is a good candidate for a 308 win shouldn't be to heavy. I have my finger on the trigger at midway. I'm going to send it to Erik to have him make it into a hp. My main use for it will be target shooting and deer hunting. Any one with this mold or experience shooting these (boolits) I gues this is the right spelling for cast according to another thread I was reading.

I never liked that bullet in the .308W. It is fine for the longer necked cartridges such as the 30-30, 30-40 and the '06. Unless you've a long actioned .308W with a long throat you will have to seat the GC way too far below the case neck. The 311299 is the preferred heavy bullet for the .308W.

Larry so the 31299 when seated out to kiss the lands you should not have to worry about the gas check falling off into the case.it's still seated up in the neck? With my ruger I can seat the bullet out a good bit and still extract a loaded cartridge. My western field is a little shorter and same round the tip of the bullet hits the in side of the action and doesn't clear. I appreciate the info. I think I will go with the 311299.

An awful lot of CBA members shoot .308 production rifles with the bullet Larry suggests and shoot really well with it. The 311284 was designed for the Krag and that it is still around shows how good a boolit it is but not for the .308Win.

You might read some of Frank Marshall's articles on the 311284. You can buy the CD from the Cast Bullet assoc. The 311284 I think was his favorite boolit in the 30-06..........Terry

The 311299 (good choice to go with) when seated in the .308W so the front lube groove is just covered will still have the GC within the case neck[smilie=w:

Thank you for that info I think I will go with the 311299. I don't want that one in a million gc floating around in the powder charge.
