Hey, guys, there's a new member here. It's a lady! She posted for the first time on the pistols board.

We welcome scottiemom to the board.

The more people who learn and understand the correct use of firearms the better.

John.

Could it be that Scottie is a member here, and his Mom signed up to keep tabs on him?

thanks for the welcome!! Not that my scottie wouldn't love to be out there shooting with the guys, but since he doesn't have opposable thumbs, he finds it rather hard to grasp the trigger and shoot!! he settles for dragging around the targets instead.

Can you train him to go out and hang new targets or maybe reset the reaction targets? If you can, it may start a new trend. Sure wish my old pug could do that for me....

hi broomhandle,
thanks for the welcome! I live in Columbia and also shoot at Shooters Choice - gotta love the Wednesdays - its ladies day and is free shooting!!
Right now I am learning on a S&W model 19 and will be learning to shoot a rifle - a .22 magnum (at least I think that is what I was told!!)

The S&W Model 19 is a VERY good learning tool. When I started in cop work (30 years ago, SHEESH!) the M-19 and its stainless counterpart the Model 66 were THE service revolvers at my agency. It would be difficult to find a single handgun platform that does more things well than a double-action 357 Magnum revolver.

Likewise the 22 Magnum or Long rifle. I am on Ruger 10/22 number 6 or 7, they tend to find their way into hands of daughters and nephews pretty readily.

You have yourself well under way in a good direction.

A belated welcome to the forum!!!!

Forgive the rough edges, although a feminine presence often tends to smooth those somewhat. :-D

Yes, you have started with a great tool. Can't go wrong with a K frame .357. I am still allowed to, and usually do, carry my 66 on duty. Had it with me so long, nothing else feels quite right. (Yes Al... I started in 1974,... where has it gone????)

I do like my new Para Ordinance .45 LDA, in comander length though. CCW I believe it is called. Flat and easier to conceal, controlable, and east to transition to from a revolver.
