I think this bullet needs a picture of the previous, lighter bullet so folks can get a perspective of the gaping hollow-point this bullet will have. The drawing of the design is great, but the visual of the actual bullet is spectacular. Maybe a note under the picture that this is a heavy version of the 186 grain bullet pictured in this thread ... http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=135174 . I am lazy, and had to click on three links to get to the picture of this designs cousin.

What does "drilled for probe" mean?

jethunter
08-11-2012, 09:25 AM
"Drilled for probe" means the mould is manufactured with a hole drilled to accept an aftermarket BBQ temperature probe that NOE sells on their website. Drilling the hole is free of charge, i think. The probe allows you to monitor mould temperature and can take some of the guesswork out of casting.

So I noticed this GB has a few more folks signed up for it than some of the buys on the schedule, does that mean it will be put in front of those when the list is updated? No criticism of the system here just curious for budgeting purposes. NOE molds are top shelf and I'd wait a really long time for one I'm just a bit foggy on the system I suppose. And to Nix if you ordered an extra set of pins I'd bet you could grind em into the penta style if you like, I picked up some extras to try some other profiles myself.

For those that missed out on making the list and want one, keep an eye on this thread. When they ship the extras will be listed on NOE's website, you can't order them custom but you can pick from what's available. I've done this in the past with group buys from Mr. Nelson and you can get the mold a few days after the group does most times.

Darn the luck,
Oh well 2 to 3 weeks + OK, Please just keep us posted Al as time allots.
I for one actually relieaze (as well as most whom ordered) that you will probably be more focused on the production versus posted on line here the status of the molds. I still look forward to receiving the molds.

No discontent from my end and do understand. No aploigies needed from NOE (AL) it is understandable, thanks for the update.

Better make sure you're paid up or you get NOTHING!

Good point and I certainly hope that there aren't any interlopers on the list that haven't paid yet that expect to get a mold. However, I'm not sure that the list on post #1 has been accurately updated. I'll use myself as an example.

I sent my payment for #4 and #5 in on January 23, 2013. My personal check has long since cleared the bank; but as of yet I don't have an * denoting payment received next to my orders. I just figured that Swede was busy producing molds and there was no need to bother him with updating the list til the end once the molds are produced.

Either way, I trust that he'll take care of business.

Thanks Swede for taking the extra time with these molds to get them right. I prefer to wait a bit longer and receive a quality mold than to have it rushed and have to 'doctor' it to get it right.

Received them today in excellant shape:bigsmyl2:
While I am not an expert nor did I sleep at a holiday inn last nite.
AL, these are a true work of art in my eyes, well worth the wait in my opinion, I only wish they had not been so trying on your end to produce. If I didn't have to work this weekend I start the break in of these, oh well just start next week / weekend
Now, I just need to pick out some more in 32, 9mm/38 and 45 cal

48 keepers outta the gate! Washed twice, heat cycled once and it was on! 750* melt, 2 HP (center), 2 solid pins in the ends. All four holes spit out .4525-.453 measured 90 degrees apart after 1 hr under the fan. Melt was 94-3-3.

Got a batch cast but finding time to load these is proving the bear. Got a 1911 and a SAA clone that will take care of testing duties when I can get a few in some cases.

1.153 passes plunk test in my 4" xD. Gonna try 5.2 Gr 231. Taper crimp to .4705.

got mine today looks good despite the fact that customs opened the box and dumped everything back into the shipping box loose for the rest of the ride.

OK, found that due to the ogive, I had to back out the crimping portion of the seat/crimp die and screw in the seating plug past the taper crimp line to keep the crimp edge from touching the bullet while seating. Turns out 1.18 passes plunk test on my shortest chamber (xD .45). This bullet casts about .008 shorter than devastator for reference. This bullet is also about .050 longer than lee 200 gr RNFP.
