What have people used to lube the ram and linkage on their presses.I will wpie the ram down with a clean rag and the apply some FP10.I would believe that if a grease is used then any dirt, lead, copper or brass filing were present, it would become an abrasive paste

I just use a light oil like Rem Oil or 3 in 1. Works good. I would not use grease

I put a light coat of whatever oil is within reach on the press rams, about once every five years. It just isn't an issue with me.

I have always used what ever gun oil I happen to have handy

I use S.T.O.S., which is a grease made for reloading machines. A light coat, stripped off about once a year for a fresh application has always worked for me. One jar has lasted almost 20 years; you don't need much.

+1 When my press gets stiff (usually from primer residue), I wipe it down with anything I can get. Most recently (a few days ago), I used Hoppes #9. It worked like a charm (I thinks it's mostly kerosene anyway).

I use the Chevron way oil that I use on my lathe and mill/drill.

3 in 1 oil, Rem Oil, 10W-30 motor oil, Mobile 1. Basically whatever is handy. The only place I use a grease is on my Dillons via the grease fitting in the crank shaft. There I use a high pressure bearing grease.

i use good ol wheel bearing grease on all my presses, just wipe it clean and reapply a fingertips worth every couple of months. been doing this for about 5 years on my lee and there seem to be no ill effects. it makes for a much smoother stroke than using a light oil in my opinion.

I use the remnants of a bottle of STP. The stuff is so clingy that a little bit always remains in the bottle so I just rub my finger along the inside and smear it on the ram.

A dab of RCBS case lube on the ram and pins eventually spreads over the working surfaces without dripping. But any light or medium oil will work also.

Have all kinds of oil, but when I bought my Dillon presses the instructions said to use only 30 wt. motor oil. Thats all I use on all of my equipment now Dillons, RCBS, Lees and an old Lyman Spartan.
Seems to have worked good for many years.
