Who makes the best .224-.225 bullet mold say 50 grain-52 grain bullets with gas checks? I may be looking to cast my own for the .22 Hornet to shoot field pistol with from a contender barrel.:bigsmyl2:

My vote for an all Hornet/any twist would have to be the Lyman 225438. It was designed for the Hornet and with a little work can be made to shoot very well. Go to the Castpics site and read Beagles writings on the Hornet and you will have gained a lot of insight about this fun little cartridge. Good luck and have fun!

Hello, BBarrett. When I was trying to wring out all the accuracy I could get from my Borchardt Hornet, I tried just about every mould I could find. Finally had Fred Leeth of Pioneer Products make up nose-pour copy of old Ideal 22636 in both P.B. & G.C. these drop about 55grs. with my alloy. Shoot very well in 1-14" twist. The older Lyman 225415 which weighs around 50grs. can also shoot very well..but can be tricky in wind. Best of luck!

If you barrel twist is 1/16 the 225-438 will be your friend. If 1/14 you can use heavier boolits.
