That is very nice looking! I must say you have done a fine job.

Before I can sign off on it and stamp the seal, it needs to undergo serious testing. Please send a couple copies of it my way. I will subject it to the most serious testing I can and report back to the board of approvers.....

Beautiful! You might want a handle though.

Cool!

Loop handles on each end would be nice.

Doc25 said you might want a handle...

A couple of tabs that can be grabbed with Vise Grips might work as well.

I'm with no_1.

A few of these should be distributed throughout the board membership for serious field testing before we can give a seal of approval. I too will volunteer for the thankless task!!

Looks very good.

I did put a good cipher on handles to flip it with, just ain't got my mind set yet!

As fer "field testing" samples...ferget it!

Wow! A seven banger! Four on one side and three on the other. I like it.

Beautiful!

The only suggestion I have is to fill the gap where the tops of the angle meet. On mine, I ocassionally overfill and the edge of the ingot wants to stick where it flowed into the seam.

Pour a few and tell us how big the ingots are.

Then post the dimensions.

Good to see you over here JJB ;)

Oh yeah, put a loop handle on them, otherwise they will be a PITA to handle when hot

Well it looks great!
it's a lot prettier than the ones I made.

Let me know how easy they drop out. That's the real test.
Are the ends straight or angled?

454PB is correct! I built my ingot moulds all welds on the outside and they worked very well but when I did overfill the molten lead would seep between the cavities and the ingots would stick. Before I used mine the second time I ran a weld between each cavity and ground them smooth. It really works great now! I do think a handle and sewing up those seams will make your excellent looking ingot moulds perfect!

Great job! Enjoy:-D

Not to be "perverse" but I HAVE to ask:
You did angle the sides slightly so that the ingots release well?

I have a couple of real decent "angle iron" ingots but they are not quite as pretty as yours. If there is a slight draft on the sides to release the ingots easily, I will give the official "Dale53" seal of approval:mrgreen:.

However, if you ship me a couple to "test" you will then qualify for the "Dale53 DOUBLE seal of approval" given only to the chosen few...

The end cut's are cut at 10 degree's. Maybe that will be enough!

Well, i don't know but I always angle mine at 2.3º (decimal degrees that is) but like the others...will volunteer my testing services. If you get them to me soon enough, I may be able to enter them in the International ingot casting festival & renaissance street faire out here in trendy California. I'll bet they would win first place.

Nice work, Jawja. The handling tabs/loops might be an upgrade, but a couple of my Lyman ingot molds had the tabs snap off--channellocks or vise grips on the edge of the mold body works fine.

jawjaboy;

>>>The end cut's are cut at 10 degree's<<<

BINGO!! You now have the "Dale53 Seal of Approval"!! Actually, it doesn't take much "draft" but it is ALWAYS best to have some.

Now, would you like to go for the "Double Seal of Approval"?[smilie=1: [smilie=1:

Incidentally, really nice work. I am pretty much of a "form follows function" kind of guy but there is absolutely no denying that good lookin' tools are COOL!

Just kidding, I think the ingot mold will do the job right nicely. But if you had the backward N ???

Well, i don't know but I always angle mine at 2.3º (decimal degrees that is)
I made the mistake of choosing 3°(centigrade degrees), which turns out to be a negative angle.
The cooled ingots remain 'frozen' in the mold, and the lead has to be removed with a red-hot ice cream scoop.

That's why you should stick with Farenheit.

Ya don't really need handles if you get a pair of Ove Gloves. They are made for people to take hot pots out of the oven but they work great for smelting or casting. I have a couple pairs. they aren't cheap at 15 bucks each but they sure make life easier. I can pick up a hot ingot and not burn myslef as long as I don't hold onto it too long. And they are more flexible than leather gooves, easier to cast in. Bought mine at Orchard Supply but they are available online.

As soon as I was old enough to understand satire I loved Pogo.

And as Pogo's best friend, the always optimistic Albert, used to say, "Friday the Thirteenth's done come on a Tuesday this month."
