how about shooting me the catalog # as online I could not find what you were talking about. It must have some sort of number I could have so I can get one too. The cheapest I have seen anything of this sort is $50 or more around here.
Thanks, Dan Corrigan

PS I have 8 5 gallon buckets of WW's to smelt

click shop online, click browse catalog, click cooking supply, they had a 6 quart dutch oven for 14.00 will this be large enough? i am thinking of going to ag supply in lumberton to get me one and a burner. i have been using one of the cast iron kettles and metling on coal inside my outdoor hot water wood stove. woorks good not much capasity though. takes only about 12-15 min. to melt a pot.

Agri-suppy is a great store. I love going there. They have cast iron pots big enough to use as a hot tub.

While I'm looking here, what does lead weigh per..oz or gallon or quart or whatever unit?

It is very close to 27 pounds per quart. that is not exact but is within a few ounces.

The Tool Box gas grill looks pretty cool. I've been wanting to build a small furnace for heat treating parts. The Tool box grill looks like it might be a good place to start from.
The stainless stock pots look like they would make good lube melting pots.
time to break out the credit card. ;)

Would the 12" be capable of supporting a full 5 quarts of lead? How efficient are these on gas, ie how long would a 20lb tank last. Never used a turkey fryer myself so I have no concept of what to expect.

I'm debating between a propane smelter or building an electric one. Just starting out, could you cast with one of these too, or is the temperature too critical?

They are pretty strong, I boil 13 gallons of beer down to 10 on mine. Propane lasts a long time.

I had the same concerns.
I'm now on my second 20lb tank. My first one lasted for about 600lbs of pure lead scrap smelting into ingots. MIne is actually a 175k btu Bayou Classic i think, but same basic rig. Holds up fine with 100+ lbs of lead melting in the pot.
The setup works well.

That's good to know. I ordered mine frim Agri-supply last night! :drinks:
Bought a cast iron pot at a ML gunshow on sunday, now the burner... I suspect I'll be kickin the tires on the rig next weekend (I hope anyway)..:coffee:
