What is a good percentage of the lead, etc. properties for a Martini Henry cast boolit ??
I don't have a hardness tester.. Thanks !!!!

I've heard that they prefer hard bullets.

i'd look for some of buck shot's posts about what worked for him,, or shoot him a p.m.
try searching... you might have stronger puter foo than i have but i do recall him posying on one of these.

I personally wouldnt use anything harder than air dropped WW Myself...in that Cartridge.

I cast my GG boolits pretty soft, roof flashing with a touch of tin to aid fill out.

PP boolits I cast them harder, usually range scrap at around BHN 10-12, I just get better accuracy with the harder alloy. I suspect that I get boolit slump at ignition with the longer unsupported nose of the PP boolit so the harder alloy works better.

Thanks for the replies !!!. This lead I have, I can mark it with my thumb nail altho a bit hard to mark. The reason I ask is because when I slugged the barrel with some .469 cast boolits, it took a lot of hammering to get the bullet through the barrel. The lead came from indoor pistol range.
It did mike out at about .469 rotating the bullet in the micrometer. I guess I'll get some softer lead to cast then try both.
