Does anyone know of a source for SAMMI Chamber Spec Drawings? I used to go to the Clymer Reamer website and use their specs but their site has been down for a while.

In particular, I would like to find the specs on the 356 Winchester Chamber, especially the Ball Seat, Leade and Throat, in order to determine what existing bullet dimensions might be suitable for that chambering.

I have good data on the cartridge, I just need real world chamber data. If anyone has made a chamber cast of one, especially from a Marlin chambered in that caliber, that would be just great.

Thanks for listening,

Tom Myers

The above link doesn't include a 356 Win SAAMI Spec drawing. I checked on leverguns and they don't have one in their data base either. I just have the drawings in my reloading texts but I don't think that is what you are looking for Tom. I just got some backordered CeroSafe from MidwayUSA last week. I had planned on casting the chambers on both my 336ER and 375 later this week. Would you be interested in receiving these castings and measuring them for me? That would save me some much need time and get you what you are looking for...

Michael,

That would be just great. Somewhere in my files are the tables that indicate the dimension changes over specified amounts of time that take place in Cerrosafe castings so make sure to note the date and time of each casting.

I will make up chamber, cartridge and bullet fit drawings and return them to you along with your Cerrosafe.

Oh, if you just received a new shipment of Cerrosafe, you probably have the time-dimension chart that is shipped in the package. If so, maybe you could make a copy and send it along in case I can't find mine.

Also a couple of fired cases would verify my cartridge case dimension data. (I'll send 'em back)

Let me know when you send them off so that I can be looking for them.

Ain't this fun?

After I measure Ranch Dog's chamber castings, It might be interesting to request drawings of the the two chambers from Pacific Tool and Die, just to see what, if any, differences there are.

You might try over on the Leverguns site. I think that there are some chamber specs there.

LeverGuns has some chamber drawings, but not of the caliber that I need
Thanks,
Tom

Yep, sure enough fun!

I went ahead and did the chamber casting today. Like I said, I threw a 375 Win (Marlin) casting and cases in with the 356 Win (336ER) for good measure! The castings were taken today at noon. There wasn't a table like you mentioned in with my Cerrosafe. I've never seen one but I've only bought the 1/2# bars from MidwayUSA. They are coming USPS Priority Mail to the address on your web site. No rush returning them...

Tom,

I found the CerroSafe Instructions and Time Table (http://www.midwayusa.com/MediaSvr.dll/TechNoteStream?saleitemid=462291) in the Tech Specs at MidwayUSA.

http://www.jgstools.com/mainfram.htmlCheck with JGS, they published a book of reamer, chamber prints. My copy does not show this drawing. My copy is dated 1993. I have the Ackley supplement but not the others. Give them a call, I sure they have what you need and can fax it to you. They do show the tool on there web page. Good luck!
