I am shooting a reproduction 1873 Winchester carbine from Cimarron and a genuine Colt Sheriff's Model revolver. Both weapons are chambered in .44 WCF.

200gr hard cast .427" RNF over a compressed load of FFFG American Pioneer Powder. I had some rounds loaded up with FFG Goex blackpowder, but those where shot before filming.

BTW, is there a way to embed video on this forum?

Just an aside, but IIRC, doesn't APP recomend against compressing their powder.

I have a 1st gen BP frame SA in .44-40 (stamped .44 Cal) it is Colt lettered as mfg 1886.

Does it say Frontier Six Shooter?

BTW, I will investigate APP.

Left side of barrel was lightly acid etched so Frontier Six Shooter has long worn away. Colt later roll stamped the Frontier Six Shooter and it was much more durable. It is in very good shape mechanically and locks up tight.

I don't know about the compression thing, but I would guess it is not a prudent thing to do. APP is normally used at a loading of 10% LESS than Holy Black.

For heck of it I visited and read APP website and what they had to say.

General loading instructions are to fill the case with our loose powder just to the point where the base of the bullet will very slightly compress the powder, about 1/16", when it is seated. NO FURTHER COMPRESSION is recommended or advisable and will result in increase pressures and erratic velocities!

And, by the way, that same bullet works in a 44 Special Blackhawk with 7.4 grains of Unique. Should you want to load "modern", lol.
