Well, my wife finally relented and got my son, Sir Whine Alot, a DSL hookup for the 'puter. Gotta be able to play high speed Diablo don't ya know. Well, it sure is faster. Photos like Finns tractor and cannon show download instantly, relativly speaking. It ended up costing her only an additional $20.00 per month after getting rid of the second phone line we used to have. My wife loves it because she can do IEP's (some progrees report for the kids at school I gather, she's a speech therapist as well as a hotty) in no time. It used to take hours. We'll see how it works when we get our first windstorm. That was always the big downfall with the dial up.

Welcome to High Speed Internet :)
It sure makes browsing the net a whole lot better.

DSL is like a tractor with a bigger engine; it goes faster but it plows the same ground......

I have the cable. Even though it's cost is about 5x more then dail up without the extra phone line, I think I'd go crazy waiting for downloads with dialup. I'm spoiled and will never go back.

I have a couple T1 lines at work and surf off a dedicated web server, then I come home to dial up. It makes me want to nibble on the end of a shotgun.

We got used to Yahoo DSL while living in an apartment for a couple of months and loved it. Alas, then we moved to a non-DSL area and had to get used to Yahoo dial-up dropping the ball at least twice daily. My wife finally got disgusted and had cable hooked up, it's like returning home!

Well, the DSL made it 11 days before it started acting up. Then it only took 2 weeks to finally get the idea through to the "Tech Help" that restarting my computer every time I wanted to switch web pages wasn't making me real happy. I'm not sure exactly what a "Network Administrator" is, but I want his job because he apparently collects a paycheck for working 15 minutes every 2 weeks. It seems we were having a "time out" issue. Someone let it slip that we weren't alone. All seems better now, but there must have been 30 posts I tried to make at various places along with several emails and authorizations to pay bills that were lost. Frustrating.
