Been looking at these for a bit: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ZAA074-1.html

Finally ordered a set. Everything fits really nice! Since I have plenty of 50 cal cans sitting around, I went ahead and ordered 2 more sets. I'm really pleased with the setup. The can gives a nice seal and you have enough room to toss a couple of desiccant packs in.
The dividers remove and 3 Lyman old style handles fit nicely. The compartments are big enough that you can place a Lyman single cavity in just about any position. You can see I double stacked a few of the singles. Plenty big if you wanted to wrap each mold in machinist paper, for longer term storage.

They look nice but all my ammo cans are already full of ammo and I'm not buying any more of them.

So that's what they look like!
But shipping up here from them is stupid!

I've been looking for a good way to store my molds and this looks like it would be a good solution.

I bought an old student desk from a second hand store for $15. I cast on the 42"x24" top and keep the 3 drawers full of molds. In Mt we don't have to worry about rust unless you leave things on the ground.

I'm looking for a good method of storing mine while leaving the handles on them. It's gonna take a bit of looking.
Still, that's a neat way to store just the molds!

I use to store mine in ammo cans but it was such a hassle digging to find the one you want.

What is ideal, if you can find one and have the room is a printer's cabinet like they use to store lino letters in. They're antiques and expensive but work really good and are made to take the weight./beagle

I have mine stashed in about 7 or 8 plastic shoe boxes. Haven't counted them as of late, but think somewhere around 45 of them.

Dang, I should do better but I just mostly put mine on a shelf in the garage.

For storage with the handles, I use a 20mm ammo can and stand the moulds with handles up. I made dividers from cardboard so they do not contact each other. Has worked for 20 or so years.

Last May I did this thread on storing my molds. Rust free mold storage (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=115858&highlight=mold+storage+cheap) These are SnapWare food storage containers from the grocery store, they are about $4.00 each. The lid has a silicone gasket and a snap closure on all four sides and are air and water tight. I cut rubber bands from bicycle inner tubes to keep the mold halves together. The end of each container is labeled with caliber and they are stacked by caliber making the mold your looking for easy to find. Look at the picture on the left and you'll see two sizes, the laarger ones at the bottom will hold two MP four cavs or two NOE 5 cavs. In the pic on the right you can see the bicycle rubber band. Works for me.

Here are the pictures from that thread.

My be over kill but I bought an old Filing cabinet at a yard sale. I lined the bottoms with thick carpet. I bought a couple of those silicon gun socks and had the wife cut and sew one end on them. Each mold has its own bag with the handles on the molds. I use all steel molds and so far its worked out pretty good.

Very nice cbrick! Very neat, clean and rust-free. Too bad you don't have very many molds to store:kidding:

I admit it, I'm a light weight with only about 72 molds so far but I'm working on it.. I know of one member here that has well over 400 molds. Now that's a bullet caster!

Rick,
I had looked at your thread when I was a lurker. I really was impressed with the solution, but I wanted something that kept all the molds together.

Either way, thanks for the inspiration!

A nice oak printers cabinet would look real nice! Unfortunately, I have to stay somewhat mobile these days.

Am embarrassed by my kitty litter containers. The ammo cans are spoken for and the kitty litter containers got the spent brass and the molds. They do work and they do stack pretty well.

The molds get sprayed with WD40. A good wash with hot water and Dawn followed by an alcohol bath and a mold is ready to use again.

I posted this in special projects awhile back but for those interested I knocked this together for myself from left over lumber and veneers. Holds 56 molds with handles (all I'll ever need) and the box on top is for sizer dies.
