I have been using Carnuba red lube for the last few months and love the stuff. I was given some lube and figured I try it out. I added the lube on top of the carnuba so that is the red you see in my pics. This new lube is made by Tamarack. It's a high temperature bullet lubricant. Says its 50% alox 2138F and 50% high temp wax. Question is: would you use this. It doesn't look like carnuba in the way it fills my groove. Should I melt these boolits down?? Or will it work??

I would shoot them see what happens. I am betting they will be just fine.

I wouldn't melt them unless I was shooting them into the fire. Use the stuff & give us a report.

When I was shifting from the Tamarack lube to Carnauba Red I had some slugs like that. I shot them in practice. No big deal.

The Alox lube is smokier than CR and is not any better a lube IMHO

This lube was practically free. Figured I would give a try. I have one more tube, so I'll use em. This stuff is no where near as purty as the Carnuba Red, White Label Rocks!!

These are going to be shot out of 1911 with 5.0 gns of 231. They are Lyman 225 gn RN. I'll shoot them and see.

Just as long as you only shoot those around Christmas, you'll be fine........

Glad I wasn't drinking coffee when I read that. Thanks for the morning laugh.
I try different lubes so often, I wouldn't know what to do if my bullets didn't have two-tone trim. They all shoot acceptably well. I just loaded some bullets that were lubed with Tamarack and got pushed back on the shelf and forgotten for a couple years. I was pleased that unlike some Alox lubes, the bullets weren't all gacky after being stored for so long.

Much is made of lube as well it should be but I remember reading an article by Jim Taylor in which he would hold a bullet by it's base & dip it in used motor oil, load in directly into a case, walk outside & send it down the barrel. He said it was great lube. HEE HEE

The high temp wax, if not a polymer, would be 180 degree petro wax, commonly called microwax. ... felix

I like the suggestion to shoot them and let us know how it went.

Boolets shot fine. Grouped very well with 5 gns of 231. That lube has a definite odor to it. It also smoked quite a bit but all in all, a decent lube.

I've used lots of Tamerac Lube over the years and have found it excellent for loads from 300 fps upwards of 2600 fps (22Hornet). It's excellent and if anyone wants to give me some I'll gladly take it:D
