You know I've watched more nature shows in my lifetime than one could possibly imagine. I know I've seen them next to people before but for the life of me I can't recall those wolves ever looking that big.

I'd like to have to pics on hand every time some local alarmist claims he saw a wolf in his field. I'll admit we have some big coyotes, but not THAT big!

Thankfully the pictures appear to have been taken somewhere outside of Alabama.

Several years ago I saw what I thought was a Red Wolf in the Cades Cove area of the Smokie Mountains NP. I realize now that what I saw was most likely a Coyote.

Those are the best kind of wolves. Dead ones. Most likely taken in Alaska.

I've been fortunate enough to have lived in places where we have no wolves. I have never seen one in the wild and had no idea they were that big!

Those are some big animals.

Those pictures made me go to my gun safe and hug my double barrel 45-70 and dry fire my .454 for about an hour. Geeze, can you imagine what it takes to feed a monster like that?

Lord, have mercy!

I never had any idea how big them boys are! No wonder they were a terror to the pioneers!

I'm not in favor of the introduction of wolves but those pics look suspect to me.

If you have never lived in Alaska, you probably have a hard time realizing just how big a wolf can get. Didn't see that many while stationed there, but those that I did see were of a size like those in the pics. Never got a shot at one! Came close a couple of times, but by the time I got the snow machine stopped and the rifle off my back, it was to late.

Here's a picture that I know is for real:

This might give some perspective as to wolf vs. coyote vs. person

I have seen some, that I thought were big, but never nothing like that. I would think the grizzlies would hide from a pack of those.

I have heard that a wolf can go as long as 9 feet from nose to tail but as some of you have said those are "GOOD" wolves.

I ran across some fresh wolf tracks today while out hunting hares. The tracks were right at four inches across.

I am not surprised they are that big. My cousin had a wolf hybrid for a few years, and old Max was huge. I am 5'7 and when on his hind legs max could look me in the eye.

He was killed by a hunter about 3 years ago.

Oh, I'd say 2-3 armchair wolf afficianados a week or so.

I have respect for wolves. If I had to shoot one I'd hope to kill it quickly.

Those'd make awesome coats or rugs.

My wife had a 'breed when she was growing up. Rambler kept them safe from lots of nasty critters while he stuck around. She grew up on the outskirts of Merritt, BC. Rambler broke free from the .5" chain they had him on after her brother forgot to feed him for a few days.

Max was the same. He was inseparable from the little ones, and would chase the strays off with a quickness.

I couldn't really blame the hunters. His collar was hidden in his neck hair I guess. I know if I was in the Georgia woods and saw max I would probably shoot it. We found out because the guy who shot him was bragging about shooting the biggest Coyote he ever saw.

If those were pics of Fido you would need a back hoe to clean up the back yard.

A little more info would be good, where were they taken? When? What rifle? What distance?
