I hope, as a nube to this board, I'm not out of line in asking this. If I am, Mr. Moderator by all means delete this topic.

I would like to know a bit more about y'all.

I'm a retired Telephone Co. employee. I worked as a Service Tech for the local company for 31 years & for Uncle Sam 4 years prior to that, in the Air Force. I now work part-time about 14 to 16 hours a week to support my hobby. I've been married to the same fine lady for almost 38 years and we have 2 children. They've blessed us with 4 Grandchildren and a 5th is on his way due to be here in early Aug.

I enjoy shooting & reloading and I now think I shoot to reload. Anyone else do that? I'm now boolit casting to make my shooting & reloading even more fun.

Now how about y'all telling me a bit about yourselves?

Rick

Hmm, well ya probably started this on the wrong board so you have that going against you. You shoot, reload, and now have started casting so you must be of questionable moral character.
Actually, click on the person's avatar, you will usually find information on the person. Most of us aren't too ashamed of ourselves, so we will post our profiles. There are several threads that pertain to our unusual vices. One of which is titled "Why do you cast" or some other such nonsense. The humor and off topic board will give you a flavor of people who post here. Very few of us take ourselves seriously. We understand that we are all students and we all have a lot to learn. Challenging conventional wisdom is not verboten and thoughtful discourse is cherished.
Welcome aboard.

Rick,

I was born and raised in Kentucky, the northernmost southern state. I am 47 years old and a professional bullshitter. I have been a bullshitter for at least 37 years. I worked as a railroad engineer for 27 and 1/2 years. I have been married twice......at least once too many. I have 4 children that I know of, could have possibly sired hundreds, but 4 carry my name and I love them all. One grandbaby in process, due to appear in September. I like to shoot guns, own about 60....down a few from previous years, used to enjoy casting bullets, just been a while since i had time to indulge. I like to patrol these waters here, yank chains, rattle cages and be a general nuisance whenever possible. For the most part, this is a bunch of good ol' boys. Only thing is, they ain't much demand for good ol' boys. HAR! You'll find an ecletic and diverse crowd here.......law men, law-yers (legal crooks), doctors, ex soldiers (old soldiers never die, they just fade to gray...or was that away?hehehehe) a few Canucks, an Aussie or three, one Finn, several liars, a few outlaws, a couple know it alls, lots of know nothings, at least one true genius, a spattering of simpletons, many tightwads and few more I can't assign a definition to. Now if there is anything else you'd like to know, just ask.:)!

Rick: If you'll go to CASTPICS www.castpics.net and look at the "cast of characters" you can get an actual look at some of the folks behind these usernames. I'm an ex-physicist retired for the past twenty years to a 5-acre "farmlet" (orchard, veggie garden, sheep, milk-goats, ducks and chickens) just inland from the Northern Calif. coast 100+ mi. north of Sam Francisco with my wife of 50+ yrs. Started casting "tin" soldiers back in the early '40's (can you imagine kids doing that today?!?), got into guns a couple of years later and went onto bigger things. Currently accumulating info on old Ideal, Lyman, Modern-Bond, B & M, Pacific and other makes of moulds and loading tools - will try to answer questions on these. Not much shooting lately, but am getting back to it. Oh, and I also hand file saws and saw chains for myself and neighbors, and fix and use spinning wheels and weaving looms (gotta do something with those fleeces). floodgate

I was on the old Shooter's.com as Wayne the Shrink, or just The Shrink, I forget which, and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. I have only married once, just celebrated our 30th, and we have 2 boys, one about to complete his MDiv and one about to complete his BS in Engineering and his MS/Engineering a year later. LOML (Love of My Life) is a geologist.

I accepted Christ as my Savior at age 9, am active in a local Church singing in the Choir and teaching Home Firearms Safety and teaching the Boy Scout Rifle Merit Badge. LOML plays in the Orchestra and sings in the Choir.

I cast (currently) for 45-70, 40-70BN, 44-40, .44RB, .36RB, .357/.38, .41LC, and soon will be casting for .30 rifle and 8MM rifle. I'm still using the open pot on the Coleman stove, hooked up to a 20lb gas bottle. Casting mostly ww, with some pure lead. Yes, that's .41 Long Colt, I enjoy getting old guns shooting again. I've got an old Martini action that my gunsmith is slowly making into a 45-70 (probably Long Range) and a Roller action that will probably get the same treatment. I have a Chilean Mauser (7MM Mauser) that has been re-worked. That was a fun project still getting it's final touches. Thanks to Buckshot the .41 Colt is shooting as well.
