I use either Unique, 4759 or 2400 in cast rifle loads. I use rifle primers. Anyone use LP primers? i read you get best accuratcy with LP in moderate loads. What do you think?

Something to test with what you shoot.
I use LP mag primers in my 45-70 BFR revolver and in my BPCR 45-70. With BP I have gone all the way to LR mags but all the primers seem to work OK.
Caliber and case capacity is what you want to match for the powder you use and how a primer works.

Many use LPs in rifle cases with very good success. What ever is the better type of primer, LP or LR, will depend on the load, whether a filler is used and the case volume (what cartridge) plus a few other variables.

I have used LP CCI with Unique in the .38-55. I cannot tell any difference in velocity, accuracy or point of impact.

Notice I said "Have used" I did it when primers were very difficult to get and that was all I had.
I don't do it now.

i use lp primers in tons of my cast loads.
if they will ignite 17 grs in a 45 colt case they will ignite 17 grs in a 308 case.
i even use them with some 4895 loads, the colder flame helps with accuracy.
i generally cut off the pistol primers at about the 35- 40k pressure ceiling.

Have used sp in Hornet and K hornet. Seemed to increase accuracy a bit with 438 HP's. Will try them in 222 and 223 one of these days. Would be very interested in actual reporting of experiances regarding accuracy/vol, etc. in larger ctgs.

Large pistol primers aren't as "tall" as large rifle. Or, rifle primer pockets are deeper than handgun, take your pick.

So you have to seat LP primers deeper than usual to seat them properly in rifle pockets. If you don't, you may not get ignition or have hangfires. If you do seat them deeper, the rifle firing pin may be a tiny bit too short to get a full strike - and again you may get misfires.

If pressures are below 40K, there is no safety issue, as that's what magnum pistol pressures are at. The cup is slightly softer in deference to the weaker firing pin hit from handguns. The LP primer is also about 5 thousandths shorter than the LR primer, so your firing pin must be able to cover the additional reach. The primer mix is also weaker than the rifle primer mix. That being said, I have had success in using them when I could not obtain rifle primers during the recent shortages. Most of my usage was with 4759 and Unique powder. I would be more wary when using hard to ignite powders, or in very low temperatures, as ignition might be a problem.

+1 - On using pistol primers in the Hornet.

My 03A3 as-issued won't shoot for spit with LPs in my 2400 or 4227 loads....
