I'm ordering a new hi-wall from C Sharps for my Christmas present to myself. I'd like to get a mold ordered also so it MIGHT get here around the same time. Does anyone know off the top of their heads what groove and bore dimensions are for Badger 40 cal barrels?

Sure, I have a few Badger 40's
0.400" - 0.408"

But - the chamber counts for at least as much if it does not match the barrel 400-408 well.
Going 0.409" mostly works but you will take a chance unless you have the rifle.

Good Luck,

I have a C Sharps High Wall in 40-65 and it measures .400- .408 and I shoot bullets sized to .410 in it. I also have a 40-65 in a Shiloh Sharps and a custom Remington RB all are the same size within .005" and all shoot .410 bullets just excellently.

Ditto what Chill and Nick said for my Highwall in 40-65. Their standard twist rate is 18 or use to be. If you want to shoot 400+ boolits you might want a 16 twist. I never could get 400s to shoot out of mine till I went to a 16 twist barrel.

Ditto again,

In 2009 bought a C. Sharps in .40-65 with 1:16 bbl. Shot Brooks 410-gr. Creedmoores sized at .410" really good. In late 2010 sent it back to the factory and had it re-barreled in .40-70 SS, again with a 16" twist. It shoots Paul Jones Money bullet 418-grains, 16:1 quite well.

Tom,
Are they putting the 16 twist barrel on standard now or did you have to request it? The last time I talked to them about a 40, several years back, the 18 was still standard.

Better order them quickly, they aren't making them anymore(Badger), at least the good folks at CPA couldn't get them anymore! Our loss!!

C-Sharps use to use Douglas barrels, my first Highwall came with a Douglas. I changed that out for a 16 twist Badger. Guess I should hang onto my Badger barreled BPCRs if they aren't being produced anymore.

I'd read about the end of Badger Barrels for our rifles over on the ASSRA site. It looks like my CPA will be one of the last ones to have Badger barrels (it was just completed a week or two ago, just got the invoice). Interestingly though, the BACO website shows another shipment of Badger barrels in soon. The last of production, or do they make big enough orders that Badger will still provide them?
