This will be much better Cerrosafe Chamber Casting Alloy.
Has a lower melting point Melts between 158 and 190 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's what I use.

Another vote for Cerrosafe for chamber casts. However, that pure lead will make really good bore measuring slugs that are noticeably easier to drive through the barrel than WW slugs.

There'll be a fair amount of shrinkage of a lead casting that you have to account for. I'm sure someone around here has the formula. Cerrosafe's better. So is sulfur.

Read the posts on Cerro-Safe before making up your mind. I don't know anything you can cast to get the exact readings.

To get a good clean casting with pure lead you would really have to get the chamber hot. Thats what they make Cerrosafe for. It will cast at less than 200 degrees and after 1 hour I think it will be at the same dimension as the chamber. Its great stuff

Randy ... http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletNotes.htm ... scroll down on the left and it will tell you pure lead shrinkage

The way i read it; pure lead will shrink between .004 & .005 with a 40 cal. (Larger the bullet the more it will shrink)
