MyLee pot finaly gave up the ghost after about 10 years. I am looking for a new furnace preferably a bottom pour. Any reccomendations on a new one? Prefered brand?

I finally bit the bullet a couple of years ago and splurged on an RCBS pro-melt. Never a regret, fine product, no problems, easy to use. It holds temp very consistantly. No drips.

I like the Lee production pot IV I bought used. A decent cleaning has fixed the dripping issues I had at first. I haven't been at this very long but it works very well for me. I'd love a Lyman mag 20 but $400?! If I had to replace it I'd look at a Lee Pro 4-20

Unless you want to get out $300 to $350, replace it with a Lee pot. You should see the prices on Lyman and RCBS bottom pour pots! It's out there!

The Lee pro-420 works pretty good for the money!

Midway has the RCBS Pro melt on sale for $326 with a $50 mail in rebate. Might be worthwhile looking into?

You could just rebuild the one you have. Several months ago I put new thermostats and new heating elements in a ten pounder and a twenty pounder Lee Pots for a fraction of the cost to replace them. Both of them work as they did when they were new.

Check out Graf and Sons, IIRC, they(RCBS) were $286, then spend another $14 on RCBS stuff and you get the $50 rebate. Still expensive @ $236, but its a good pot

I have the PRO 4 20LB.. works great, holds temp really nicely. I did add some weight on the valve... When I keep the lead clean, it doesn't drip..

Another option for the RCBS is to call the company and ask about seconds or returned pots. I have heard that deals do come up once an a while.

I recently bought a Promelt for $80.00, if I hadn't I would still be using my Lee 4-20. The Lee might not be the best; but it is the most affordable, and works okay.

Can I ask how you got your Lee pot to stop the dreaded drip?

My Lee 4-20 has been good from the start. A small amount of dripping but I replaced the wooden knob with a steel one from a Lee production pot (a little extra weight). I also lubed the upper and lower shoulder bolts that hold the valve mechanism in place with Bulplate sprue plate lube. It will still drip on occasion but it is not a problem. I keep an ingot mould under the spout to catch and drips that may be the pot's or my fault. For the money the 4-20 can't be beat!!!!!

Keep your pot clean and it won't drip much.

They show $333.99
Is there a discount code?

I keep hoping my lee 10 lb pot will die so I can buy a 4-20. As much as I'd like the RCBS, I refuse to pay more for the pot than the PID that I built to control the temperature! :)

If it lasted 10 years, that's a pretty good record!! Most cars today don't last that long, and if they do their falling in the road by then...I would get a Lee Pro

4-20, Ive got the Lee Production IV works great! BTW how much did you pay for it 10 years ago?

I would also buy it here, great service and price!http://www.titanreloading.com/melters/lee-pro-4-20-lb-melter-110-volt

+1 on just rebuilding yours if you like to tinker. I think I saw replacement heating coils on MidwayUSA.com and I'm sure they have the other parts like thermostats.

I would compare prices between Midway and Titan, items I have purchased from Titan have been cheaper and they don't try to hammer you with ( Roundup) and shipping!Their customer service is great too! :cbpour: http://www.titanreloading.com/mold-melters-accessories

There is a NIB Pro melt for sale on Ebay with a RCBS thermometer for current bid of 260.00, sale ends in four days.
I have nothing to do with the ebay seller just passing the message to fellow casters.
I have a pro melt and find it to be a great pirce of equipment.

I agree with GT27 Titan is the place to go if you need any Lee products.

The Lee 4-20 bottom pour, and keep it about 1/2 full, temp climbs as level gets below 1/2. Screw the wooden spout handle off and screw on a 3 ounce lead fishjng sinker in it's place. The drip is caused by the lighter than lead, steel pin in the pot. The sinker over comes that problem.

The wife drives past GRAFS to visit her sister...always has a list to pick up. Got to pay sales tax...what a rip off!

I'd buy the LEE melter I wanted and use it until it quit....go buy another one like it or slightly better...but still a LEE. Then I'd give the old one to someone who liked to tinker OR see how far I could throw it.

Had a SAECO for almost 20 years. Got a LYMAN that lasted close to that. Got a LEE MAGNUM MELTER and I'd buy another one in a heart beat...maybe even a bottom pour for pistol boolits.

I believe Lee does have replacement parts for their furnaces. I purchased a Lee Production 10 lb pot about 20 years ago and it is still going. I melt only clean lead in it, so never had drip issues.
About 10 years or so, I bought the 4-20, and have been very happy with it. I use different alloys in them, depending what I want to cast.
I find Lee products, for the most part, excellent. I have been casting/reloading for over 20 years and own equipment of virtually every make.
A buddy of mine is on his second Lyman furnace. A good product but, as you can see, parts wear away.
I would not hesitate to get another Lee, price alone. Good luck

I just got a new Lee 4-20 bottom pour.... I had a 10 lb bottom pour but I gave it to my son in law to use it for sinkers...
I have only heated one load in it so far, and I like it. A little harder to see the spout in the bigger pot compared to the old 10 lb pot, but It takes getting used to.
I got mine from Grafs, ordered it the week before Xmas got here (Left Coast ) in 3days.
I ordered it on line, paid with the plastic fantastic, I think it was around $65.00, plus the $4.95 flat fee and another $4.95 for ordering on line ! But I'm happy with it , so far, I also bought a new mold (lee 90-314 SWC) and a .314 lee sizer.....
My Cupcake ingots wouldn't fit in the 10 lbs machine but they fit in the new 4-20...That makes things a little easyer. I can mix my alloys and pour em into the cup cake tins ,I have more tins than ingot molds. PJ
