Hello Folks,

Last night (12/15/11) I sent an email to Dave Higginbotham of Lone Star Rifles. I asked him about building one of his world-famous Rolling Block rifles for me. This is the reply. I hope you'll join me in a prayer for the family.

Dear Tom,

My Dave was accidentlly shot and killed Wed. morning. I'm so sorry he can't help you. He just wanted everyone to give their lives to Jesus. He said it was the most important decision a man would ever make.

Sincerely, Katha Higginbotham

Condolences to his family with a prayer.
Some may have suggested a rolling block was the firearm in question.
I would be suprised.

This is a hard blow. Dave was well known and well loved, a good man, great husband and outstanding patriot.

I only knew him from the Yaupon Creek Silhouette Association shoots. Was a nice person and helpful. Never handled one of his rifles though. Very sad news indeed. He will be missed.

Godspeed David.

I wanted to say that this is Tragic to say the least but I wanted to add something that this is also a lesson.

What happened is he was removing a rifle from his vehicle that for whatever reason we will never know but it was loaded. It was removed barrel first and some how it went off and the bullet went through his chest.

So please please be careful folks.
