Well at least the first deer with my new Savage Muzzel loader
This is one of those ( Gasp - Choke ) front stuffers that use smokeless , a plastic condom around a Bullet or Boolit and a 209 shotgun primer
44 gr of AA5744 pushes a naked 290 Gr Ranch Dog 45 colt Boolit about 2200 FPS
Alloy is 2-1 Pure and WW
I stuck a older VX1 Leupold 3 x 9 x 40 on it
Off the bench I am getting sub 2" at 100 and just over 3.5" at 200 yds
130 yd zero
Well this AM it was raining
So I hunted out of a pop up blind sitting where 3 mowed paths crossed in a thick woods
It had been loged out 5 years back and had lots of tops , small trees and dozer piles
About 9 the rain slowed down a little and a decent doe steped out , into a lane at 150 ish yds
She was facing away , so I waited till she turned
When she turned 1/4ing away , I aimed a little above center of the lungs
And at the off shoulder
At the shot I lost sight of her
So hot footed it down to where she had been standing
As I figure the rain woold soon wash away any blood trail
I found her not 10' from where I shot her
2 trashed lungs and a broken shoulder
I did loose a little meat at the exit wound , maybe a double handfull max
But the quick kill was great in the nasty weather
