Three and a half years ago I packed up my stuff and moved here to Nevada. You don't know how much you have until you move it. All the reloading stuff went into a storage place and later into my garage. Finally this week getting around to sorting it out and getting set up to load again. There are many surprises out there. I got lots of powder, well over a hundred pounds, 2200, 8208, 1680, 4227, 2015, and lots of others. I'm good in brass, I'll have some to sell. I'm also set in gas checks except for 35 caliber and I'm working on that. I have a good supply of jacketed bullets, especially .22 caliber, and sufficient lead for my needs. Got most of the molds I want. But you know, I can't find my Rockchucker! Did I sell it? Don't remember it if I did. And a couple of die sets I could have sworn I had aren't there. Having 2 or 3 sets I don't need is small consolation. But where in Hades is that Rockchucker hiding? Also got 3 Dillon Square Deals to sell. One is .38/.357, One is .44 Magnum, and if I remember correctly (Which obviously isn't a lock these days) the third is .45 Colt. Also have a .45 ACP conversion kit. Other than the Dillons, I'm not offering anything for sale yet. I still need to go through things and separate and weed out what I want to get rid of. Thank goodness for EBAY. Oh yeah, got beau coup primers, probably have 15 or 20 thousand Remington 7-1/2s to sell...

Looks like I'll be in the market for a new press. If you had to choose between an RCBS Rockchucker and the Hornady Lock-n-Load Classic, which would it be and why?

I love anything RCBS, but my nod goes to the Hornady here. I've used a LNL for years and LOVE the convenience of so easily swapping dies. Can't go wrong either way really.

My nod would have to go to the Hornady. I do not load with either of the presses, but, the customer service at Hornady is first rate! I might be interested in the 38/357 Dillomn, though. Send me a PM if you are ready to get rid of it.

Lee Classic Turret.

CRS is an awful thing eh? You will run across the Rockchucker just after you purchase a new press. Mark my words.[smilie=1:

If you have the time to wait until one surfaces on Ebay or elsewhere, get an RCBS A2. The A2 is slightly larger than the Rockchucker, but much, much stronger and noticeably smoother being made from cast steel instead of cast iron as is the Rockchucker.
When I started loading in the late 50's, the A2 was the nee plus ultra press but out of my financial reach so I went with a Pacific Super C. I went through a number of presses and settled on the Rockchucker for 20 years. I bought a 50's vintage A2 about three years ago and sold the Rockchucker "down river". I should have bit the bullet and got the A2 many years ago. Even used, an A2 will cost you the price of several Rockchuckers, but it is worth the money.

The Lee classic press will probably be as good or better than what you had I bet. It's a rock for sure.
Interested in the square deal .45 colt if ya still have it?

Was that The Big Max? I bought one about 20 years ago at a gunshow. It was an awesome press, automatic shellholder, collected the spent primers, just great. Bui like a fool I sold it because it was overkill on the little cartridges I reloaded most. Will I ever learn????

I already told my nephew that. Getting old is not all it's cracked up to be...

The Big Max is an A4. You should be able to get an A-2 for a few hundred clams.

Beats the heck out of not getting old though.

Getting old is not for sissies. A feller just has to "grin and bear it". That's one thing I am an "expert" at (gettin' old[smilie=1:).

Heck, Dale, you're not getting old. You're 'aging'. Like a fine bottle of wine. Or a block of fine Wisconsin Cheddar. And you're right, it's not for sissies.

There have been some inquiries on some of the excess stuff I have to sell (If I choose). The only thing I intended to sell now was the Dillon Square Deals and I had no idea what kind of price they would bring. A little research on EBAY showed only 3 or 4 used ones and they were going for something around or over $200; who knows what they will end up at? I have decided I will list them at Ebay for $175 and see where they go. Anyone here who wants one can have it at that price before I list it. Shipping is extra and could get expensive; how about $20 west of the Mississippi and $25 east of it? I know I will be selling 15 or 20 thousand Remington Small Rifle Primers, now I'm thinking about $100 per 5000. Of course I can't ship them but someone attending NCBS 2007 might be able to sweet talk Deputy Al and Buckshot into swinging by here and picking them up for you. Ditto powder. I know I have more than I need but I haven't inventoried it yet to know just what to sell. Please don't start on that until I list it here as available. The dies, molds, brass, etc will all be listed here before it goes to EBAY.

I had the A-2 press years ago and now have the A-4. The A-2 was a better press by far but I like the shell holder setup on this one.

Eureka!! I found my Rockchucker. And the little Lee $20 press I use for bullet sizing. And my .444 Dies and new brass. That's about like finding three $50 bills. Still missing are my .45-70 dies and brass. A rough inventory of large size powder containers indicate I can basically sell everything I ordered from Bartlett a month ago, three 5 pounders of 4227 and two 8 pounders of 1680. They ended up costing me just under $12 a pound with HazMat and shipping costs so that's what I'll sell them for. Also have available two or three 8 pounders of 2200, same price I guess. Over a week or three I'll try to get a complete list of the small items to post. I guess the bad news is that I'll still have to put up with the Rockchucker throwing primers all over the floor. Maybe it should have been named PrimerChucker...

Scrounger, great recuperation from CRS! I have the same primer tossing problen with my Square Deal. Finally I pulled the factory primer launching device off and put a five gallon plastic bucket under it. The bucket never misses and it is adding to my scrap brass.

Chargar and 44man, I'll second y'all on the A-2. My big press is the A-3, which differs from the A-2 mainly in having a full-diameter ram instead of the two-diameter ram of the A-2. I've seen several A-2s on ebay, but never an A-3.
The only other guy I know who has one is the guy I bought this one from. Years ago, I entered the local gunstore to buy a new A-3, because I had heard that RCBS had discontinued them. My friend was leaving with the last one. I just waited him out and got it from him eventually, another advantage of getting old. :drinks:
