Hey Guys,

Been a while since I posted here, been poor and working on other various projects like THIS (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5QDgNw4l6Q) one. My next "big" project that I want to tackle, is to develop some AAC Blackout equivalent rounds for the SKS. I've seen this page: http://www.castbullet.com/shooting/sks.htm for the 180 gr load (posted is 1700 fps, wondering if it can be safely pushed closer to 1900fps). THIS (http://www.montanabulletworks.com/303_British_Rifle.html) (I can't cast my own, so I'm stuck with buying) seems like it would be a great source for both the 180gr and 200gr bullets, I'm wondering if you guys have any loads for Supersonic 180gr, Supersonic 200gr and Subsonic 200gr(that will cycle a yugo sks). I'll be making a video posting my results and everyone involved will be credited as well as the website. So let me know what you guys think and if you have any ideas and I appreciate all your input!

Savy.

Having a round fit in the magazine is obviously a good idea, but correct cartridge OAL is seldom based on what will just fit into your magazine and published lengths are just guides; tailoring is often necessary. The OAL needs to be at least partially based on the boolit's profile and a flat point boolit will usually necessitate a round shorter than one loaded with a round nose boolit of the same weight. My 124 grain truncated cone rounds are right at 1.075" which for me is ideal. 147 grain will likely need to be longer but since I don't load 147 I really can't comment on that. But proper seating depth can indeed be determined by using your gun's chamber as a guide. All Things being equal, a round should freely drop fully into the chamber, not stick if pressed in and fall freely out of the chamber when the barrel is inverted.

The slight bulge in a 9mm case as a result of properly seating a boolit is quite normal and nothing to worry about. The 9mm case has a slight taper so the bulge often times just can't be avoided. If you're overly compressing your powder you need to move to a slightly faster powder that will take up slightly less case volume.

What I do think I see in your video is the need to apply a slight taper crimp to the case after boolit seating to completely remove the flaring. Not getting this right can also lead to a round sticking and not dropping freely into, and falling freely out of, the chamber. This may not be an actual problem and may be just another internet optical illusion associated with what I call "kitchen lighting".

i have a buddy that is loading 220 grain .311 bullets with 11.2 grains of unique and shooting suppressed in 7.62 x 39, but I dont know if it is in a single shot gun or a semi nor what suppressor he has.

Using unique would be awesome because I use it for my pistol ammo. Could I work my way up from 11gr to a good supersonic speed for the 200gr? I found this PAGE (http://gunloads.com/modules.php?name=Gunloads&cmd=Gunloads&did=223) with a load of 14.2 gr of Vihtavuori N130. Would 14.5 gr of H322 be a good substitute?

This is a modification question, since I have a yugo, if the subsonic ammo is not powerful enough to cycle the bolt, could I drill a larger gas port in the "off" position to aid in cycling the bolt?
