So I slugged my barrel today ?

I have read here that most people with 45-70gov, cal rifle have a groove to groove diameter (or the widest part) of .457” plus or minus .001” I slugged my barrel today, and I’m getting .455” ?. Can I size my bullets at .457” ?

That should work. What gun has that small a groove diam? If you measured correctly,
.457 or .458 should work just fine, assuming the chamber will accept that size.
