I Want To Give Red Dot A Try After All The Good Things I Have Read About It. My Question Is Will It Cycle Reliabley And Accurately Through A Powder Measure? I Have A Lee And An Rcbs PM That I Will Be Using The Flake Powder Through.

while not one of your powders I've been using red dot in a MEC shotgun reloader as well as a Dillon reloader for years with no problems

I use an old Redding powder measure for Red Dot. Works fine for me, however, I always weigh finished loaded rifle cases when I load them with red dot or unique to be double sure that I don't have a double charge.

Red Dot and the other Alliant shotgun powders run very well through my RCBS Duo-Measure.

Perris, eh? Just down the road from where I'm staying during medical recuperation (Cherry Valley).

when using flake powders. and stick powders for that matter in a powder dump.
i use a tap,tap own the up [empty in the case] stroke.
and another tap,tap on the down [fill] stroke.
settling the powder in the hopper and jostling it enough to fill the measure.
it takes a bit longer to get the dump settled down with this method but i can drop 3 grs clays or 700-x or 6-15 grains of unique with very little variation doing this.

I don't have a Lee PM, but Red Dot has been working fine through my RCBS PM and Ohaus Duos for a long time. Tapping the PM is OK as long as you consistently use the same number of taps or knocks. Make sure to check every 5th charge just to make sure that things are staying "honest"; Red Dot is pretty fast stuff and you don't want it to wander off for any reason. LLS

My Dillon 550B does just fine with Red Dot. five grains in just about anything works for me.

I have had no problems metering it in Lee PPM and Auto Disc, RCBS, Lyman 55, and five different brands of shotshell measures. Lee PPM is most consistant of any with weights.

My Lee PPM is very accurate with red dot.
