New guy.

Quick question: As a new guy, what are the odds of ruining a barrel while learning to cast?

Thanks.

I'm going to jump right out there and say ZERO odds. Assuming you don't do something to damage your gun outright such as a double powder charge or coating the boolits with an abrasive or having carbide inclusions in your melt, lead alloy boolits themselves will never harm your bore.

People who are weak minded and uninformed will always be subject to being manipulated into believing even the most ludicrous "Old Wives" tales. And one of those tales is that cast boolits will ruin your bore.

Stupid with loads or the cleaning rod will ruin a barrel.
Cast will actually extend barrel life way longer then we live! There is no easier bullet on barrel steel then lead.
Join in the madness that we all love. :drinks:

No damage. If you are new to cast I recommend reading this FREE book.

http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell_Book_Contents.htm

Glen is a member here and knows his stuff. Pretty easy reading and everything you need to know to get started is there. You will have a good working knowledge of casting, sizing, lubing and loading cast boolits.

Don't be afraid to ask questions.
