My 311284 casts a little smaller than yours, a little over .309 on the body and .300 or a little smaller on the nose. It was bought as my second mold, I think, probably in 1976, and has provided thoroughly satisfactory service in Model 1903 Springfields, two Model 54 Winchesters, and one very early Savage Model 110. 13.0 Red Dot, 20.0 IMR 4227 or 4759, or 25.0 RL7 have all been used for years and have given good accuracy. It is my boolit of choice in the Springfields and other rifles that use similar chamber and throat dimensions.

The Cast Bullet Association's Frank Marshall thought it made an acceptable deer hunting boolit. My experience doesn't extend that far.

That 311284 with gas check shoots in my Ruger M77 Hawkeye 300 WM into one ragged hole at 100 yds using IMR SR 4759. I have yet to get jacketed to shoot as good.

They work great in the two 30-40 Krags that I have . The same load works good in both the carbine and the rifle . They are cast from wheel weights . I am using 4759

The #311284 was originally designed for the .30-40 Krag and it is stll a good choice for that rifle and cartridge. It will also work great in most military .30-06 rifles as the others have said.

Truely one of the great old blts. Mine dropped at 220 with my alloy until I had Buckshot HP it. Now weighs about 215 cast/checked/lubed. It shoots in any of the 30's of appropriate size, and with varied loading proceedures due to length.
Shoots best from the standpoint of looks in cases like 30-40/30-06/300H&H due to long necks. However, have shot it in shorter neck cases including 30-30/308 etc. but with the blt base into the case body/powder space, and with a dac filler without any problems. Don't like to have the base with GC's below the base of the neck, but am not troubled about that when I am using tight crimp on Hor. GC's. My mold casts .313, and think if I beagled it, could probably get it shooting well in my Mosins and Brit.

A real old design that has been with us successfully for many years. Its as cast dimensions should be around .310 in the body and .301 in the nose. It works best in 4 groove rifling. Its a long bullet so with short necked cases there is often a length crunch. It shoots well in the Garand although the OAL is a bit long; no prob in the Springfields or 1917's. With moderate and correctly adjusted powder charges it is capable of very good accuracy. LLS
