½ lb garlic
1 red pepper seeded and slivered
2 cups white vinegar
2/3 cup sugar
½ tea. Mustard seed
½ tea celery seed
( put seeds in cloth sack)

put garlic in water to cover and bring to boil for 2 min. Peel cloves and cut large ones in ½.
Put vinegar, sugar, sack in pan on med HIGH and stir and boil 5 min. Add garlic and pepper. Return to boil 5 min. Remove spice bag. Fill jar 1 inch from top with garlic/pepper. Fill1/4 inch from top with brine.. Seal. Let stand 4 weeks.

Oh man... The deli down the street from the old machine shop used to have a genuine pickle barrel. We'd get our sandwiches for lunch and then fish around in that old barrel and come up with a half a dozen cloves of garlic. That was some good eating. I believe I'm going to give this recipe a try. Thanks!

If your gonna make this try to get some peeled cloves from a produce market. Sure speeds things up a tad. Do not take all the pickeled garlic to your hunting camp. I made that mistake and ended up with empty jars to bring home. Your buddies may eat as much as mine did. One guy was dunking the juice with bread after we ate all the garlic :)
