Hi,

I went to Harbor Freight today and the digital thermometer (reads up to 2000 F) was there again for $20 plus 6% Mi tax. I bought three (I already have one) and they had another four or five. If anyone wants one, I would be happy to send it to you for $21.20 plus actual shipping (while supplies last!), which should be pretty cheap as it's light and small.

Here's the original link (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=9190&highlight=digital+thermometer)

Dale - Your thermometer is inbound.

Pepe Ray - Your thermometer is inbound.

Jeremy - I sent you a PM asking how you wanted yours shipped.

Kodiak1 - Shipping to Canada is not a problem.

Montana Charlie - SKU 92242. The bar code is 9236392242. It is a "Single Input Thermocouple Thermometer".

The three thermometers I purchased are all spoken for. However, the store had another 5 or 6. I didn't want to buy too many as I didn't know what the interest level would be. I can go back on Monday or Tuesday to "resupply" if needed. I don't want to make two trips though, so if you are interested, now is the time to speak up!

Medic44,

Yes... :drinks:

You will need to change the thermocouple though. Read through the original thread to see what is needed. You can do a search on eBay for "K thermocouple". Here's an auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/Thermocouple-2-K-3-16-x4-w-5ft-lead_W0QQitemZ290085172247QQihZ019QQcategoryZ50926 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290085172247) with what you are looking for.

All,

The thermocouple that comes with the unit will work as a lead thermometer, it just smokes a bit when you first dunk it and you'll have to find a way to keep it in the pot while working. I simply bent the wire so it hung on the edge of the pot. I recommend that you call HF and order extra thermocouples. They're less than $2 each, +ship. DO NOT leave the thermocouple in the pot when you turn off the power to the pot. The lead shrinkage damages the TC and you'll get inconsistent readings next session (cost me $2 to find that out, but I had already bought extras, so I was back in business immediately). The unit part number is: Centech 92242, and the thermocouple part number is: 26174.

These units are "in store only" items. You can't get them through the catalog. For the AZ members, I've seen them from time to time in the Mesa store at Southern and Gilbert. Last time I was in the store they were next to the checkout on the right as you enter. Some of the employees aren't familiar with them and don't know where to find them.

Good tool. Can't beat the price. :drinks:

Regards,

Stew

Stopped at HF in GR and they didn't have them on sale :( Will keep a look out for when they are on sale, but they retail at $39.99.

When I got mine the other day, I just took a 6" long piece of copper pipe about 3/8"dia. and crimped one end closed. Then slid the thermocouple into the open end of the pipe and put a light crimp on it just to keep the thermocouple from sliding back out and it works perfect........
